RHO TAU Chapter
Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society recognizing excellence, hard work, good grades, leadership, and commitment. Founded in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa is the oldest and most prestigious honor society serving two-year colleges with an approximate membership of 3 million individuals across the United States and worldwide.
Its purpose is to recognize and encourage academic excellence among students of two-year colleges. It also aims to promote individual growth through programs that provide leadership training, continual scholarship, fellowship among scholars, and service to the college and the community.
Tallahassee State College is home to the Rho Tau Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa.

Meetings
PTK meets every week on Wednesday at 4 p.m. The meeting location is shared through email with members every week.

Eligibility
To be eligible for membership, a student must:
- Be currently enrolled at TSC
- Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher
- Have completed at least 12 college-level credit hours toward a degree or certificate
- Adhere to the moral standards of the society
Membership in Phi Theta Kappa is by invitation only. Invitations are sent once every semester and contain the necessary registration information.
Once you are invited, Phi Theta Kappa is easy to join, has a lifetime membership, and a one-time-only membership fee. Once you become a member, you keep your membership as long as your GPA meets the requirements. You may be as active in the organization as you like or have time for.

Recognition
New student members are formally welcomed with an Induction Ceremony by the Rho Tau Chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at TSC.
Graduating members of Phi Theta Kappa may wear the Golden Honor Stole, Tassel, Cords, and Key Medallion during their commencement ceremony. They may also affix the Society's Gold Diploma Seal to their TSC diploma and have their membership noted in their transcript.

Honors in Action
Chair - Aakanksha Pathak
Phi Theta Kappa's Honors in Action program helps students grow as scholars and leaders by involving them in meaningful projects. Students start by researching a topic, setting goals, and developing a research question. They then compile their findings and present their project to a wider audience. However, it doesn't stop at research; students also create projects that provide real help to their communities. Through this process, they gain practical skills, learn to work with others, and build professional relationships, all of which support their success in college and beyond.
College Project
Chair - Yuvane Arjune
The Phi Theta Kappa College Project helps students become leaders and serve their college's mission while building good relationships with the college administration. By planning and carrying out the project, students develop personal, professional, and soft skills. They also make a positive impact on their college by working on projects that support the college’s goals.
Hallmark Awards
Chair - Azure
The Hallmark Awards Program celebrates outstanding achievement in Phi Theta Kappa's programs, promoting excellence, fairness, quality, and growth for individuals and chapters. Winners are honored each year at Catalyst, PTK's national convention, for their dedication to supporting PTK's mission.
Scholarships
Chapter officers receive a $500 scholarship, and the ten most active members receive a $250 TSC Foundation PTK scholarship each Fall and Spring.
More than $90 million in transfer scholarships to many four-year colleges and universities are available to Phi Theta Kappa members. Some two-year college scholarships include the Pearson Scholarship for Higher Ed., GEICO Pathway to Completion, and the Oberndorf Lifeline to Completion Scholarship.
