Math Champions

About Math Champions 

Math Champions shield logo.

Math Champions are students who are paired with a faculty member to assist with student success. Math Champs are a combination of a peer mentor and a peer tutor. They are students recognized for their exemplary mathematical skills and their ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly to others.

Responsibilities

  • Attend class with your paired professor (faculty mentor)
  • Assist with group work in class
  • Attend training sessions that will focus on best practices in tutoring and leadership
  • Hold tutoring sessions each week in the Learning Commons to assist students in:
    • Reviewing and clarifying information covered in class
    • Improving their study skills for the class
    • Achieving subject mastery

Interested in becoming a Math Champion? 

Qualifications

To become a Math Champion, a student must have:

  • A recommendation from a faculty member
  • Mathematics GPA of 3.0 or greater and cumulative GPA of 2.8 or greater
  • Completed application
