About Math Champions
Math Champions are students who are paired with a faculty member to assist with student success. Math Champs are a combination of a peer mentor and a peer tutor. They are students recognized for their exemplary mathematical skills and their ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly to others.
Responsibilities
- Attend class with your paired professor (faculty mentor)
- Assist with group work in class
- Attend training sessions that will focus on best practices in tutoring and leadership
- Hold tutoring sessions each week in the Learning Commons to assist students in:
- Reviewing and clarifying information covered in class
- Improving their study skills for the class
- Achieving subject mastery

Qualifications
To become a Math Champion, a student must have:
- A recommendation from a faculty member
- Mathematics GPA of 3.0 or greater and cumulative GPA of 2.8 or greater
- Completed application
