The Tallahassee Community College Spark initiative is partnering with Lively Technical College to ensure that local residents in Gadsden, Leon, Wakulla counties who earn a trade certificate can transition to TCC and earn a certificate in entrepreneurship.
“It’s important that students pursuing trades realize all of the benefits of gaining their certification,” said Kimberly A. Moore, Vice President for Workforce Innovation and TCC2WORK. “One of the premier benefits is the opportunity to start their own business. The partnership with Lively creates a natural fit for students to be served by both institutions while they pursue a plan for their future success.”
Lively graduates are known for their ability to capitalize on their trade skills earned and TCC is known for its ability to provide building blocks that support individuals continued development and lifelong learning, this includes nurturing entrepreneurs. Note, by providing this training opportunity instead of delaying their dreams to own their business the students will get the business foundation they need right away.
“Lively Technical College is excited to work alongside TCC to provide our students with an opportunity to learn about how they can use their skills to launch a successful business,” said Shelly Bell, Principal, Lively Technical College.
The classes are offered one night a week for a period of 15 weeks. The cost of the program is $225 and is supported through a generous partnership with First Commerce Credit Union, a staunch supporter of small businesses. Space is limited and seats are filling up quickly.
